Evolving Teleradiology Models

Teleradiology_models Evolving Models in Teleradiology Reporting

"Last few decade saw incremental but fascinating advances in radiology practice," says a senior radiologist from TeleradiologyHub. This was made possible due to industrial thinking- through technology and workflows.  The changes in radiology reporting has impacted the ecosystem on many accounts; from conventional reporting to the marketplace tele-radiology. The shift has  been favorable to the patients, radiologists, investors and doctors.

Every decade saw secular growth of MRI or CT scan machines, the prices have reduced down by double digit. The reporting methods also got transformed and led to effective rise of new Teleradiology Model.

1. Conventional (Console based) Reporting
In this model, the conventional reporting would take place sitting on the MRI or CT or X-ray console. The reports were generated and gets printed in-house.

2. Internal Teleradiology
In this model, the private network was extended and now reporting can take place from different rooms where radiologist would sit. The reports were finally printed in-house.

3. External Teleradiology
In this model, the Dicom images were partly transported to different location where the radiologist would report the cases. Some reports would be in-house and others would be on their party app or portal

4. Outsourced Teleradiology
In this model, all the images were transported to a web or cloud server where different radiologist would report the cases. The report would be available on the their party App or portal.

5. AI based Marketplace Teleradiology
This disrupted the existing teleradiology model, it offers flexibility to report the case from anywhere which could be used internally or externally. The radiologist selection and reports template would be customized

Following Table explains how the gradual rise of tele-reporting process lead to highly flexible AI based highly marketplace for teleradiology.
