Bangladesh_Second Opinion MRI_CT_Second Opinion in Bangladesh

Bangladesh is rapidly urbanizing with 38% of the population being in cities. The country has the highest population density so is the dependence on hospitals and diagnostic facilities. The pressure on diagnostics is humongous. The hospitals alike patient groups look out for specialized experts in medical care, but more demand is into radiology. The solution is to democratize the radiology space.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University is one of the prominent hospitals in Dhaka, capital city of Bangladesh. Dr. Md. Salahuddin Al Azad is a Professor who heads the Department of Radiology & Imaging. There are 14 radiologists who are working in this department. There are reputed hospitals having active radiology departments like Square Hospital, Evercare Hospital, DHAKA MEDICAL COLLEGE, United Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, etc. All are overloaded any given point in time. The Dignostic facilities are overwhelmingly preoccupied. In such situations the radiology is the front gate of healthcare, radiology needs to evolve in terms  of technological operations i.e teleradiology and cloud PACS.

Spreading Cancer Awareness and MRI Second Opinion in Bangladesh

Today we have MRI and CT scan as the best diagnostic for cancer. Without getting to know the state of abnormality, it makes treatment plans obscure. Also, time delayed in diagnosis risks disease spread. Like other places, Bangladesh also has aggressive cancer count, increasing every day. Apart from many reasons, the textile sector in Bangladesh is growing rapidly that has overtaken India in exports. The textile sector uses chemicals that are carcinogenic in nature and can impact the health of the workers who mostly live in urban Bangladesh. There is huge pressure on the diagnostic facility in Dhaka. Simultaneously there is a shortfall of radiologists who can report the MRI or CT cases involving tumors or other abnormalities. In such a situation, we have to find better options. Today the governments are protective and do not want the tele-reporting or teleradiology practice. They fear job losses. The scare is not right. The radiologists across the globe can help with the complicated Brain MRI or CT Angiography scans in Bangladesh. The second opinion Panels can help the local knowledge and experiences. This helps in taking care of the patients. Hospitals will be benefited with a specialized view. For example, abdominal or Pelvic region tumors need better or more evaluation where CT second opinion on CECT Abdomen and Pelvis. This generally not possible in the routine MRI or CT reporting situation.

The second opinion of MRI or second opinion of CT is therefore making the patient and surgeon confident that avoids the fatal judgmental errors. The progressive nature of second opinion in future  requires a Multi Expert Second Opinion Panels.

Teleradiologyhub.com forms a global second opinion panel across 24 countries. It enables hospitals and patients in Dhaka to seek better opinions from the Multi Experts Panel where local radiologists from Bangladesh join hands with radiologists from Japan or Europe or India.
